about

Long before I veered into more hypnagogic forms of electronic music, I was into making harsh noise. I saw Merzbow play in Toronto in 2002 and it became an important moment in my musical life.Through that performance I became aware of the physical power of pure sound and how it can bring about an almost psychedelic state. I immediately ripped a copy of Cool Edit Pro the next day and started recording the material that would become this album. I finished it in the spring of 2003. Unfortunately there was no real noise community where I lived so it collected dust on my computer. Eventually I forgot all about it. I started Au Vol in 2007 with my friend Jasmine Landau (auvol.bandcamp.com) and already I was veering into more nuanced forms of noise and drone. Recently a friend and old bandmate of mine James McDonough (we both played in a hardcore band called Panserbjorne) made me aware that he had a copy of this on a cd-r. He graciously uploaded it for me. So here it is, 17 years later, my first foray into noise music.
